Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and Bali is a perfectbase for those wishing to explore it.
The beautiful village of Bali is located in the centre of the north coast of Crete. The distance to the airport of Heraklion measures 50km, to the next bigger city called Rethimnon it’s 30km.
The distance to the adorable city of Chania measures 80km. There are hourly air-conditioned bus transfers in both directions. The bus stops are on the main road just outside of Bali. The shortest way to the south coast of the island (approx. 50km) is via Rethimnon.
Underneath the Talea ori mountains (high 1000m) which surround Bali you can find romantic places to overlook the overwhelming Aegean Sea.
There are five sandy beaches, some surrounded by massive rocks, all have a walking mile with various cafes, taverns with authentic food and small souvenir- shops. During the day some offer water-sports, sailing trips or diving courses. By the old port of Bali you can sit and watch the typical Cretan village happenings.
To mention only two of the interesting historic sights nearby, there is the monastery of the holy Ioannis, approx. 5km above the seashore of Bali with its seldom growing
plants and an magnificent look over the key of Bali. The other is one of the many drop stone-caves in Melidoni, approx.10kmfrom Bali.
